I want to modify my JR Pass

Several reasons may require a modification of the JR Pass:

  • Name(s) not identical to the passport;
  • Spelling mistake on the first name (only the first name is compulsory, except for hyphenated name);
  • Change for a longer duration of the pass or an upgrade;
  • Change of the travel dates raising an exchange in Japan more than 3 months after the issuing date of the Pass (the activation / starting date is asked in the order form solely for this purpose).

Modification is possible under the conditions below.

If the JRP are not issued / shipped yet

Contact us as soon as possible to indicate the necessary modifications and so that we can implement them.

If the JRP are already issued / shipped

Pleaser return the exchange vouchers by registered letter (at your expenses) to the address shown in our website’s footer, with a dated letter signed by you stating:

  • The exact modification(s) needed (date, name, length, type, etc.);
  • Your full contact details (name, first name, postal address, country, e-mail address).

The return expenditures are at your own cost. Moreover, we are not liable for any loss or deterioration of the postal mail.

We must receive your mail at the latest 15 business days before your departure date to Japan. 

Although JR Pass are nominative and non-transferable, Japan Railways rules are clear: no modification can be accepted without the prior return of the original exchange voucher(s) (copies not accepted).

Moreover, you will be charged a 15% modification fee.

Specific cases

The following passes cannot be modified once they have been issued by our agency:

  • Nikko Pass
  • Koya-san World Heritage Ticket
  • Narita Skyliner

Unfortunately, no change is possible.
