I want to cancel my JR Pass and get a refund

Cancelling JR Pass and getting a refund is possible only if the Vouchers have not been exchanged and within one year after purchase.

To cancel your JR pass, please return the exchange voucher(s) by registered mail (at your own expense) to our Head Office in France, whose address is indicated on the site footers, with a dated letter signed by you stating:

  • The exact reason for cancellation;
  • Your full contact details (name, first name, postal address, country, e-mail address).

The return expenditures are at your own cost. Moreover, we are not liable for any loss or deterioration of the postal mail.

Although JR Pass are nominative, Japan Railways rules are clear: no cancellation can be made without the prior return of the original exchange voucher(s) (copies not accepted).

Refund can take up to 30 days after the reception of the exchange voucher(s). Moreover, refund will be made minus the 30% cancellation fee on the amount of the JR Pass.
Refund is made to the same method of payment used for purchase (credit card or PayPal).

If you payed your order with a bank card, you can contact your insurance afterwards to ask for refunding the remaining amount with payment invoices and refund invoices accessible from your initial order as supporting documents.

Following the terms and conditions of Japan Railways, it is impossible to cancel or to refund a JR Pass whose Voucher was exchanged and / or activated, nonetheless the exchange / activation date.

Specific cases

The following passes cannot be cancelled once they have been issued by our agency:

  • Nikko Pass
  • Koya-san World Heritage Ticket
  • Narita Skyliner

Unfortunately, no refund is possible.
